The artwork is fabricated from ~14,500 custom-made 2.5” triangular ceramic tiles. Hundreds of unique geometric patterns which have been arranged by color within a rhythm of diagonal bands.

12 custom glaze colors specially made for this project based on photographs of the Maple Ridge landscape.

Each of the ~14,500 custom made tiles are laid by hand and face-mounted with clear film.

Following the design and using special templates to make sure that the tiles are evenly spaced.

The installation of the three mosaic walls took only seven days.

A word from the artists:

“The Maple Ridge Community Mosaic is our second large-scale public artwork where we have used Interstyle’s EarthenGLASS tiles. EarthenGLASS is a beautiful material and people like the Canadian-made, recycled-material as much as the amazing tile colors. Public Art can be a complicated process so we are very grateful for all of the expert advice, experience, and support that we’ve always received from Interstyle.”
